A geothermal heat pump operates similarly to an air source heat pump in that heat is transferred between the inside and outside of your home. In the winter, the geothermal system absorbs heat from the ground and moves it into your home. In the summer months, this action is reversed. Heat is removed from the interior of your home and transferred underground, where the cooler underground temperatures absorb it and then return to your home.
